Airport Road, Inuvik, NT
Construction of a new 2,830-square-metre Air Terminal Building (ATB) to replace the existing facility. The main floor is raised off the ground to provide an air space under the building as recommended in the geotechnical analysis. Main level consists predominately of public space and Airport Operations. Second level includes public access to Airport Administration, secure suite and building services. Levels three through five include secure space, providing a control tower height to meet required specifications. A separate services building will allow for the recommended raised main floor, with airspace, for the ATB. The services building houses the boilers, pumps, fire pump, domestic hot water, domestic water tanks, sewage tank, fire water tanks and fire pump. These utilities are connected to the ATB by way of a utilidor. Location is directly west of the existing terminal, formerly occupied by the old RCMP building. TIMELINE: Project is pending funding approvals. Plans are complete. Joint federal and provincial funding for the project has been announced. Timelines for tenders and construction may be confirmed in spring, 2024.
