Contractor assumes all risk associated with delivery of his or her bid to the office of the city clerk prior to the specified time deadline. City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, will meet at the Council Chambers in the City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, Ames, Iowa, at 6:00 p.m. on June 11, 2019 at which time and place the City Council will hear objections to the proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract for said North River Valley Well Field & Pipeline Project. City of Ames Contract No. 2019-121. The City Manager shall announce the results of the bidding, together with his recommendations thereon, to the Council at its meeting to be held at 6:00 o'clock p.m. local time on June 11, 2019. The plans and specifications are now on file in the City Clerk's office. Copies thereof may be obtained at the City Purchasing Division, Finance Department. The City of Ames Purchasing Division is the only authorized source of proposal forms. Proposal forms obtained from any other source may have an incomplete set of documents. Bidders using a proposal form not obtained from the City of Ames Purchasing Division are advised to contact the City of Ames Purchasing Division to provide a contact name, mailing address and phone number to enable receipt of necessary addenda. Reproduction of these documents without the express permission of the City of Ames is prohibited. This project is located at 725 E 13th St, Ames, IA 50010 (North River Valley Park). As old wells fail and need to be replaced and as demand for treated water increases, additional wells must be drilled. This project will provide new and replacement source water capacity with the addition of three new water supply wells and interconnecting pipeline to the Ames Water Treatment Plant. This project will consist of a new emergency generator located at Inis Grove Park, along with new electrical power transmitted to the well site from Inis Grove Park. Fiber optic communication will be conveyed from the Ames Water Treatment Plant to the new well field for well controls and security cameras. In addition, a new security gate at the Water Pollution Control Lime Ponds will be include in the scope of this project. All bids shall be submitted to said City Clerk on or before the time set herein for the bid opening. Bids shall be made on the Proposal Form furnished by the City of Ames, in a sealed and plainly marked envelope indicating it is a bid in response to this notice. Each bid shall be accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days after receipt of bids, and no bid may be withdrawn during this period. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of two (2) years from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. After award and approval of contract and performance bond, work on this contract shall substantially completed no later than April 1, 2020. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City. As required by Iowa Administrative Code 875, Chapter 156, the bidder shall complete and submit the Bidder Status Form with its bid and certify its state or country of domicile by completing the address section of the Bid Form. By virtue of statutory authority, preference will be given to products and provision grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa labor, to the extent lawfully required under Iowa statutes.
