The Toronto Public Library invites prospective respondents to provide a response to qualify for selection onto a prequalified supplier roster for General Contractors for the Dawes Road Library demolition and reconstruction project. This Request for Supplier Qualifications (RFSQ) is an invitation by the Toronto Public Library (the Library) to prospective respondents to qualify in accordance with Part 3 - Evaluation of Responses for future eligibility to provide construction services for Dawes Road Library demolition and reconstruction as further described in Part 2 - The Deliverables (the Deliverables). In preparation for a planned tender for the construction of a new library and community hub as a replacement to the existing Dawes Road branch at 416 Dawes Road in Toronto, Ontario Canada (the Project) the Library is undertaking a prequalification process for General Contractors. Only pre-qualified General Contractors qualified through this RFSQ process will be invited to bid on this Project for the Library. The Project involves the demolition of the existing 6,740 square foot (626 square metre) building and the construction of a new 17,000 square foot (1,580 square metre) library and a 5,000 square foot (465 square metre) community hub. An eight (8) unit condominium above the existing library will also be demolished as part of the Project. The new building will be three-storey plus basement, providing the community a joint facility housing a library and community hub with enhanced amenities and services. The Library will also be prequalifying Mechanical Contractors for this project. The prequalified Mechanical Contractors will be named as approved sub-contractors in the RFT document. The Library is in the final stages of the Site Plan Approval process and plan to submit the project for building permit by August 2023. Library anticipates issuing and closing the second-stage RFT in October/November of 2023. The construction is valued at approximately $25,000,000 including contingencies.
