Development of a Liquid Waste Management Plan (LWMP) to identify the improvements required for the sewer system in Courtenay and Comox. Three components of the project are conveyance, treatment and resource recovery. Three options are under consideration for conveyance: 1 - Overland Forcemain; 2 - Tunnel Forcemain; and 3 - Phased Tunnel Forcemain. TIMELINE: The project team is now preparing the second draft of the plan which will be submitted to the province and review will take about one year. Coming Up Next: Spring 2024: Stage 3 LWMP to be submitted to province. Spring 2025: Provincial approval of Comox Valley Sewer Service LWMP. *Estimated construction costs range from $43M - $65M for the three conveyance options under consideration.
