The Bow Valley Dump Station was constructed in 2017 and commissioned in 2018. Effluent from the dump station is collected in a septic tank (a series of step station settling tanks with built-in filters and pumps), and is pumped through a 50 mm HDPE force main to the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Currently, effluent flows are calculated based on pump run times and are reported in the dump station control panel. These flows are then recorded manually by the operator. The intent of this project is to install a flow meter on the force main to record flows going into the WWTP from the dump station. Alberta Parks is inviting interested parties to submit quotes for the installation of a flow meter system that accurately measures the effluent flow rate within the force main. The installation will support operational efficiency, improve monitoring capabilities, ensure regulatory compliance, and facilitate process optimization. Provide labour, supplies, materials, and equipment for installation of a new flow meter. This may include, but is not limited to the following tasks: .1 Mobilization and demobilization. .2 Supply and install temporary fencing, signage, and barricades as per the Contractor’s Health and Safety Plan, to be approved by Alberta Parks. .3 Perform locates and hydrovac, as necessary to identify existing buried utilities. .4 Tree removal, clearing, and grubbing as required to facilitate access to the work area. .5 Excavate and expose existing force main from the dump station septic tank. The force main is deep buried, approximately 3.5 m below ground. The tie-in location to the force main is shallow buried, approximately 2.0 m below ground. .6 Remove and dispose a section of force main to accommodate access for new piping, flow meter, and buried concrete vault. .7 Prepare and compact the subgrade. .8 Supply, deliver, install and compact bedding gravel. .9 Supply and install new piping (50 mm HDPE outside vault or Schedule 80 PVC inside vault), precast concrete flow meter vault, and flow meter, including bypass piping. .10 Connect electrical power to the new flow meter, to be supplied from an existing control panel at the dump station. .11 Supply, deliver, install, and compact backfill material. .12 Perform flow testing and commissioning, including supplying hauled water to fill the septic tanks, pressure testing the HDPE pipe, draining the system and blow down. Contractor to prepare a Commissioning Plan, to be approved by Alberta Parks. Kananaskis Region Operations will confirm operation of the flow meter during commissioning in May 2025 and any outstanding issues will be resolved by the Contractor as part of the warranty period. .13 Complete surface restoration to the existing naturalized area including topsoil and seed. .14 Clean up work area.
