The City of Olathe Parks and Recreation is seeking proposals from qualified, licensed firms specializing in market and feasibility studies for municipally owned and operated indoor sports complexes. The intent is to identify parameters, opportunities, and constraints in the market based on site location and connected to the organizational goals and objectives for Olathe Parks and Recreation. The City of Olathe Parks and Recreation 2023 Master Plan suggests a desire from Olathe residents for a new indoor sports complex with an approximate size of 100,000-150,000 square feet. Facility programming could include but not limited to the following: indoor basketball courts, indoor volleyball courts, indoor turf, concession/service areas, fitness area(s), pickleball, e-gaming, restrooms, storage areas, meeting space, administrative offices, and overflow/ spectator areas, childcare area, splash park/cove. Organizational goals and objectives for the Fieldhouse project: o Provide a venue that serves youth and adult athletic programs in Olathe for recreational and competitive sports with practice space, leagues, and tournaments o Understand target programming based on local and regional market competition o Understand logistics for facility operations that includes local and regional tournaments o Understand and quantify direct and indirect impacts of facility on local economy o Include re-programming opportunities with nearby Olathe Community Center and interactions and synergies with new facility o Construct and operate a facility that meets financial goals and is at or above full cost recovery for Olathe Parks and Recreation.
