County : Sussex Project Description : The project consists of operational improvements including turn lanes and other intersection modifications, median turn lanes for residential entrances, and Bicycle and pedestrian facilities throughout the corridor. This project has been split into 2 phases as described below: Related projects as follows: T202011201 plantation road improvements, robinsonville road to US9: phase 1 of this project begins at the plantation road and robinsonville road Intersection and ends near the plantation road/belltown road/US9 intersection. The project will include operational improvements at the belltown road and US 9 intersection, a multi-lane roundabout at the intersection of plantation road, belltown road, and SR 23, and an additional southbound through lane on Plantation road. Bicycle and pedestrian facilities will be upgraded throughout the corridor. There are 34 parcels estimated to be impacted by this project. Project Justification : This area was identified as a high priority by sussex county council due to high development growth in the corridor over the last several years. The purpose is to preserve mobility for local residents and businesses while providing roadway improvements along plantation road to reduce congestion, improve safety, and accommodate anticipated growth in local and seasonal traffic. As of September 19, 2024, the project is in Final Planning status. Anticipated Construction year is 2024. DEDOT - Plantation Road Improvements, SR 24 to US 9 *Project information has been obtained through a public state transportation improvement plan (STIP). A STIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the STIP often evolves based on funding availability. The project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
