This Project is the Phase V redevelopment of the former F. Ray Power Building previously operated by the WV State Rehabilitation Hospital. Abatement of interior hazardous materials has been performed ahead of this General Construction Project and shell space has been completed. Of this existing 33,300sf building approximately 8,140 sf will be renovated in this project. The Architectural scope of new work includes interior walls, doors, interior finishes, chemical fume hoods, commercial and laboratory grade casework. The Systems scope of new work includes Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Projection, and IT/Data infrastructure. Bidders will be required to provide Bid security in the form of a Bid Bond as found in the Project Manual, in the amount of not less than 5% of the total amount bid, including all alternates. A Contract Performance Bond and a Contract Materials and Labor Payment Bond each equal to 100 percent of the Contract Price will be required for the successful Contractor. Other bidding requirements are described in the Project Manual. Technical questions must be submitted by 10:00 a.m. on October 8th to the Owner at Jerry.Rush@wvstate.edu. Bidders will be required to complete the Work (Substantial Completion) within 200 (two hundred) calendar days from the date of commencement. As actual damages for delay in completion of the Work are impossible to determine, the successful Bidder (Contractor) and his Surety shall be liable for and shall pay to the Owner the sum of $500, not as a penalty, but as fixed, agreed and liquidated damages for each calendar day of delay until the Contract Work is substantially completed as defined in the General and Supplementary Conditions of the Contract for Construction. The Owner intends to issue a letter of intent to award a contract within 30 days of the bid date; however, bidders will be required to submit offer under a condition of irrevocability for a period of 60 days after submission. The Owner reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to re-advertise.
