The primary purpose of this work at 2814 W Avenue is to demolish and haul away site and building debris, and restore property to a graded stabilized, vegetative state. Once started, the work shall be done in the most expeditious manner possible, and all work shall be completed no later than December 13, 2024. The work to be performed under this Contract shall consist of asbestos removal, building demolition, utility disconnections and removal of other improvements listed in these specifications such as: concrete, stone, brick, asphalt or other flatwork, planters, shrubbery, (including clearing and grubbing of all volunteer woody materials less than 6" in caliper), yard waste, debris, junk, fences, retaining walls and the like, as well as capping of wells or cisterns, and properly abandoning septic systems, if any. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with a bid security equivalent to five percent (5%) of the bid price. The "bid security" must consist of a firm commitment such as a bid bond, certified bank check, or other negotiable instrument accompanying the bid as assurance that the bidder will, upon acceptance of the bid, execute such contractual documents as may be required within the time specified. Prior to, or at contract execution, Contractor shall provide a performance bond on the part of the contractor for 100 percent (100%) of the contract price. A "performance bond" is one executed in connection with a contract to secure fulfillment of all the contractor's obligations under such contract. Prior to, or at contract execution, Contractor shall provide a payment bond on the part of the contractor for 100 percent (100%) of the contract price. A "payment bond" is one executed in connection with a contract to assure payment as required by law of all persons supplying labor and material in the execution of the work provided for in the contract. This project includes all materials, equipment, transportation and labor needed to remove and properly dispose of demolition materials associated with the site improvements and buildings located at 2814 W Avenue and restore site to a graded, stabilized, vegetative 2 state. The specific project location along with the kind and approximate quantity of materials to be used shall be as set forth in the Plans and Specifications. The bidder who is awarded the contract shall execute a Letter of Agreement as provided in the RFB. Following the City Council action to award the contract, it is anticipated that a Notice to Proceed will be issued on or before November 11, 2024. Work shall not commence prior to the issuance of a Notice to Proceed by the City. The term for the Contract awarded from this Request will be until December 13, 2024. The contract may be extended as agreed by written mutual consent of the City and Contractor. Further, mathematical errors in individual bid tabulations and/or total bid summations resulting in differing amounts than submitted will, at the sole discretion of the City, be taken into consideration and either waived, if deemed not material, or considered to be a basis for bid rejection.
