The purpose and intent of this Quick Quote is to establish a contract with one qualified vendor, hereinafter referred as to "Contractor" to provide the following services as specified herein to the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation (JYF), an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hereinafter referred to as "Agency." This contract is for repairs at Jamestown Settlement. At Jamestown Settlement the fort palisade needs repairs. Four (4) palisade posts need to be replaced. Two (2) Wooden gates need to be replaced. (See map and pictures). The QQ will include mandatory repairs to this structure. B. Requirements 1. The Contractor shall provide all tools, labor, material, equipment and any other incidentals including trunnels (i.e. pegs) necessary to complete the work described herein that is not provided by the Agency. All tools and equipment must be suitable and have the necessary capacities for the work being considered. The Contractor shall have experience with all phases of timber frame construction, including wattle and daub work, as well as modern heavy timber construction. 2. Sketches and photos that are attached may be used as a guide for bid planning but should not be relied on as shop drawings as dimensions may not be precise. All measurements shall be verified by the contractor. C. Specific Requirements- Materials 1. Palisade Posts- Four (4) approximately 12"x12"x 16' long pressure treated pine timbers are needed to replace old rotting posts. 2. Gates - Two new gates are needed to replace rotting gate to match existing examples. 3. Hinges/Hardware - Gates are to be hung using heavy duty strap hinges with greaseable fittings along with any other necessary hardware. It is recommended that heavy gate wheels be used on the outside of the gates to relieve pressure from weight of gates. 4. Tar- Pine tar will be provided for the 4 feet of palisade posts that is in the ground. 5. Bor 8 Rods- Bor 8 Rods and caulk will be provided. The agency maintains a reproduction of James Fort as part of its outdoor exhibits. The fort is surrounded by a timber palisade with wooden bulwarks constructed at each of the three corners. The Fort also has enclosed within its various replica buildings. Inspection has revealed that numerous palisade timbers and wooden exhibit extensive deterioration and must be replaced. The intention of the agency is to replace damaged material. This contract is for repairs at Jamestown Settlement. At Jamestown Settlement the fort palisade needs repairs. Work may be done during regular hours of operation, from 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday thru Sunday. Any bid in response to this solicitation shall be valid for (90) days. At the end of the days the bid may be withdrawn at the written request of the bidder.
