The high mast lights serving many of the parking lots on the main campus are over 50 years old and need to be removed due to high maintenance cost, and the danger of structural collapse. This project is the first phase of replacement for the high mast lights serving selected parking areas. Also, the lighting along Avenue C is insufficient for student, faculty and staff safety. This project will provide new street and pedestrian lighting along Avenue C from Hickory St. on the north to Eagle Avenue on the South. Notice to Proceed for construction is anticipated to be November 2024. Scope of work includes install new parking lot, pedestrian and street lighting in selected zones as shown on plans. This will include some underground wiring, installation of new poles and lighting fixtures, and repair of pavement where necessary due to excavation. Coordination with the City of Denton will be required to install new lighting poles and fixtures across and in City of Denton rights of way. This project will also include installation of numerous parking lot poles and lighting fixtures in selected parking lots, as shown on the construction plans, and defined in the project specifications. Once new lighting fixtures are in place and working for each zone, the contractor will be required to remove the high mast lights currently serving the areas specified in the construction documents.
