The scope of work includes but is not limited to Construction of a widened trail section from Valley Ave E to approximately 1200 linear feet north. Improvements include, but are not limited to, wall construction, revegetation of buffer, paving of new trail, installation of illuminated bollards, installation of new infiltration trench, and other improvements identified in the plans and contract provisions. A DBE Goal of 23% and a Training Goal of 400 hours has been established and Federal Prevailing Wage Requirements are in effect. Engineer's Estimate: $1,600,000.00 Bidders are made aware of the requirement to include a Bidders Questionnaire (WSDOT Form 272-022) in accordance with special provisions section 1-02.6. All bids shall be submitted on the prescribed Bid Forms and in the manner as stated in this invitation and in the Bid Document and said bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit in the form of cash, cashier's check, certified check, postal money order, or a surety bond to the City of Fife in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid. Bid Bonds submitted on other than the bond form provided by the City may be subject to rejection. Faxed bids and/or surety bond will not be accepted. The Project shall be physically completed within 75 working days. Liquidated damages per Special Provision 1-08.9 will be assessed for each working day of delay in completion of the Project. The City of Fife reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive irregularities in the bid or in the bidding. This work shall consist of clearing and grubbing, removing, and / or adjusting all materials noted in this section of the Special Provisions as well as any other materials designated for removal on the Plans or necessary for the construction. The following specific items shall be included under "Removal of Structures and Obstructions" as well as other minor items noted on the Plans and other minor items discovered in construction: o Remove and dispose of existing vegetation within project limits. o Remove and dispose of approximately 130 trees of various species, sizes, and condition. o Remove and dispose of approximately 130 root balls and root sytems from associated tree removal. o Remove and dispose of existing asphalt trail. o Remove and dispose of existing cement concrete materials. o Remove and dispose of existing benches, litter receptacles, and other site amenities to be replaced. o Remove and dispose of miscellaneous wall materials, if discovered. o Remove and dispose of miscellaneous litter, trash, etc, if discovered. During construction, and then upon completion of the work, the Contractor shall thoroughly comb and search the surrounding area and remove any construction material thrown or discarded amongst the trees, bushes, ditches, etc., such as paint cans, cartons, broken pipe, pavement pieces, paper, bottles, etc., and shall tidy up the surrounding general area to make it neat in appearance, including removal of debris that may or may not have been deposited by Contractor's operation. Paved surfaces, existing and new, shall be thoroughly cleaned (street sweeper) upon completion of work within the area, and shall require daily cleaning if dust or mud exists. Prior to job acceptance, all streets shall be cleaned. This work shall also include furnishing and installing the water meter, and coordinating all applicable inspections, City permits, fees, and conforming to City of Fife Water materials standards. This work shall also include trench backfill and trench patching within Valley Ave E. Trench section and materials shall conform to City of Fife Standard. Commercial HMA is not permitted within Valley Ave E.
