This document constitutes a request for competitive, sealed responses for exterior repair and maintenance on the John William "Blind" Boone Home located at 10 North 4th Street, for the City of Columbia, Missouri (hereinafter referred to as City) as set forth herein. City of Columbia, Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a contractor to remove, replace, repair and install roofing, siding, ballast/railing and painting at the Blind Boone Home as specified herein, contract documents (Attachment 3) and any issued addendums. Blind Boone Home is on the historical registry. The John William Boone Heritage Foundation has given approval of materials and to proceed with the maintenance and repair of the home. Parks and Recreation shall completely oversee the project. Roofing - Inspection of existing Cedar Shake shingles a Remove and Replace damaged or missing shingles with like product o Application ofRymar Cedar Shake Wood Sealer or Approved Equal to new and existing cedar shingles o Min. 1- Year Warranty on Installation Siding - Removal/Storage ofWindow Shutters, Gutters, and Gutter Downspouts as Necessary o Removal ofexisting wood siding, cleanly and safely to not cause harm to the structure o Replace fascia trim, door, window, and comer trim. o Installation ofJames Hardie Board siding o Dream Collection (Elegant Red) No Alternates shall be accepted >> Replace Window Shutters, Gutters, and Gutter Downspouts (R) Min. 1- Year Warranty on Installation (C) Min. 10-Year Warranty on Product Baluster/Railing Repair: Remove/Replace wood railing and ballasts on porch and upstairs balcony o Style to match existing. Coordinate with City representative Painting o Scrape/Removal ofExisting Paint on Exterior Wood Surfaces not removed and replaced with New Materials e Paint all Existing Wood and New Material Surfaces o Colors to Match Existing o Obtain Sample approval by City representative Contractor shall agree to complete the work described in their proposal no later than one hundred twenty (120) calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed. Contractor shall agree to allow a deduction of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) per calendar day from final payment as liquidated damages for each day that completion is delayed beyond said completion date established. An Addendum to this RFQ providing the City of Columbia's official response will be issued if necessary to all known prospective bidders. Questions must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 9, 2024. Bidder shall submit an original bid bond, in an amount of not less than five percent (5%) of base bid to the Purchasing Division, prior to the bid closing date and time. Acceptable forms of bid bonds include: 1.) an original bond on the City of Columbia's bid bond form, (Exhibit A) 2.) a certified check made payable to the City of Columbia; or 3.) An electronic bid bond provided by Surety2000.com, as verified by an eleven-digit code which is generated by the Surety2000 system and provided by the contractor in their bid submission. The contractor on a public improvement project costing more than fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) shall provide to the City, a Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond, with corporate surety, satisfactory to the purchasing agent, each in an amount not less than the contract price. Contractor shall furnish a Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond, each for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, guaranteeing faithful compliance with all requirements of the contract documents and complete fulfillment of the contract, including payment of all labor, material, and other bills made in carrying out this contract. ** Bids must be received in Purchasing and date stamped by the bid closing date and time. Bids shall be in a sealed envelope, have the bid number and description labeled on the outside of the envelope.
