Location and Description. The Project is located on Thornton Avenue between San Pedro Drive/Dondero Way and Fremont Boulevard; on Fremont Boulevard between Alder Avenue and Mattos Road; and Peralta Boulevard between Fremont Boulevard and Sequoia Road, and is described as follows: Project will implement complete streets upgrades and will also complete state of good repair improvements consisting of base repairs, curb and gutter replacement, sidewalk replacement, and AC overlay. The project is more specifically defined in the Contract Documents, but generally includes the following items of work: Furnish and maintain traffic control throughout the period of construction; maintain pedestrian barricades and detour pedestrian traffic around the work area; demolish and dispose of or recycle existing improvements including asphalt pavement, curb, gutter, sidewalk, curb access ramp, medians and traffic islands; construct protected intersection improvements, install new storm drain facilities, modify existing traffic signals to City standard equipment along with bicycle detection, pedestrian countdown heads, accessible push buttons and signal interconnection, install new signal at Thornton Avenue and Oak Street near Thornton Junior High School, remove right turn slip lanes, upgrade existing curb access ramp, install raised cycle track on Fremont Boulevard between Thornton Avenue and Peralta Boulevard, place hot mix asphalt concrete pavement, slurry seal pavement, install striping and pavement markings to narrow traveled lanes, install buffered bike lanes, install crosswalks and stripe green skip-striping through conflict zones. There may be other items of work not mentioned above that are shown on the plans and required by the State Standard Specifications and/or the Special Provisions.
