The University seeks quotes from qualified bidders for Reactor Cooling System Upgrades to the Ward Hall, TRIGA Mk II nuclear reactor laboratory. The project consists of acquiring reactor cooling equipment, removing existing equipment, installing new equipment, and commissioning Section I. Objective: To acquire, install, and commission reactor cooling related equipment to improve cooling capacity with a goal of 1 MW. Work to include removal of existing equipment, installation, painting, electrical, cooling tower stand modification, excavation and backfill, and equipment start-up. Equipment removal, installation, and commissioning will be performed in the KSU TRIGA Mk II nuclear reactor laboratory, located in Ward Hall Rooms 109 and 110, and the adjacent courtyard area. Section II. Deliverables: To upgrade, replace, enhance, modify, and/or increase the redundancy of the following reactor cooling system components: o Piping, including: o Secondary loop o Primary loop modification to connect heat exchanger (if needed) o Valves o Check valve o Wye strainers with cleanout valve o Locations for instrument placement (e.g. temperature, pressure, flow, etc.) o Cooling tower riser header drain to surge tank - pipe, valve, and actuator o Heat exchanger o Cooling towers o Secondary loop pump including backup o Primary loop pump backup (no installation) o Flow meters - primary and secondary loops o Pneumatic three-way valve Equipment to be acquired and installed by successful Bidder: o Qty. 1: Cooling tower - Baltimore Aircoil Company, FXT Series, Dual Fan Cross Flow, Forced Draft, Gravity flow OR Marley, NC8401MAN1, NC Steel Crossflow Induced Draft Double-Flow o Qty. 1: Heat Exchanger - Alfa Laval, AQ4L-FG, Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger o Qty. 1: Secondary loop pump and motor replacement and install - Armstrong, Series 4280 o Qty. 1: Secondary loop pump and motor, backup, no install - Armstrong, Series 4280 o Qty. 1: Primary loop pump and motor, backup, no install o Qty. 1: Pneumatic Three-way Valve o Qty. 1: Piping, including locations for placing threaded components o Qty. 1: Tower Riser Header Drain to Surge Tank - Pipe, Valve, and Actuator o Qty. 3: Gate Valves o Qty. 2: Butterfly Valves o Qty. 2: Wye Strainers with Cleanout Valve o Qty. 1: Check Valve o Qty. 2: Paddlewheel Flow Meters Project to be awarded as a single contract for "Project as a Whole".
