PURPOSE The City of Cathedral City (City) is requesting proposals from qualified professional engineering consultants, licensed in the State of California, with the intent of entering into an agreement to provide professional engineering design services for one or multiple Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) Cycle 11 Projects. The three projects available include eighteen Intersection Upgrades (C08754), two Signalized Pedestrian Crossings (C08755), and one Pedestrian Crossing (C08757). In general, the selected Consultant shall be responsible for the preparation of all improvement plans, preliminary and final cost estimates, and project specifications for this Project. BACKGROUND The City of Cathedral City successfully received funding through HSIP Cycle 11 to complete improvements prioritizing roadway safety for all users of Cathedral City roads, including motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Funding is separated into three projects. For City Project No. C08754, eighteen unsignalized intersections throughout the city will be improved. The scope of work for this project includes providing pedestrian crosswalk upgrades such as LED street lighting, curb extensions, ADA ramps, flashing stop signs, high visibility crosswalk striping, and advanced warning pavement markings and signs. The total design and construction cost for this project is $1,452,100.00. For City Project No. C08755, improvements will be completed at the intersection of 30th Avenue and Avenida La Paz, and the intersection of Cathedral Canyon Drive and Ortega Road. The scope of work for this project includes providing pedestrian signals/hybrid beacons (HAWK), ADA Ramps, LED safety lighting, high visibility crosswalk striping, and advanced warning pavement markings and signs. The total design and construction cost for this project is $1,066,300.00. For City Project No. C08757, improvements will be completed at the intersection of 30th Avenue and San Eljay Avenue. The scope of work for this project includes providing Pedestrian school crossing enhancements, ADA ramps, flashing stop signs, school zone flashing beacons, and LED safety lighting.
