The City of Burlington requires a Contractor to provide snow clearing and salting services to our transit bus stops and shelters. The work involves the continuous availability and supply of the necessary equipment, materials and qualified operators on demand. There are approximately 719 irregularly configured bus stops. There are approximately 261 shelters. The primary focus of this contract will be snow clearing of the bus stops, including the shelters followed by salting services. Depending on the accumulation of snow, the Contractor will be asked to respond with either tractor units for accumulations exceeding 50 mm and/ or hand clearing/ salting units for accumulations less than 50 mm of snow and/ or ice conditions. Furthermore, following tractor clearing after significant snowfalls, salting will be required to be completed. The John Street bus terminal and Go station stops are not included in this contract. Salt (salt/sand material) is supplied by the City at the Roads, Parks, and Forestry Operations Centre - located at 3330 Harvester Rd., Burlington, and therefore the supply of material should not be included in the bid price.
