The Department of Public Utilities, Energy Delivery Division of the City of Riverside is seeking bid from qualified contractors to contractors to remove and dispose of obsolete underground PILC (paper insulated lead cable) and related obsolete equipment, including associated equipment. The project area is located in three separate areas within the City of Riverside, the area of Harvey Lynn Substation, including the substation and getaways, and Riverside Substation, including the substation, getaways and the downtown area along University Avenue, Lime Street, Twelfth Street, Market Street, Magnolia Avenue and Ramona Drive, and a small area within La Colina Substation. The Cable Replacement Program identifies deteriorated underground cables and initiates projects to replace deteriorated underground cabling to accommodate planned future improvements. The goal is to prevent underground cable failures; reduce the frequency and number of customers affected by outages and the associated operations and maintenance costs. The program identifies deteriorated underground cable, identifies future requirements, and initiates projects to implement appropriate system enhancements. The work includes the removal and disposal of approximately 13,705 circuit feet of underground distribution primary cable and the removal and disposal of ten (10) link boxes and related underground distribution facilities.
