The scope of work under this item is to locate existing buried utilities including but not limited to existing potable water lines, chemical feed lines, electrical wire and conduit, sample lines and valves located to the south of the Final Effluent Pump Station prior to construction. This includes a test pit program as the location of all piping and utilities as shown on the drawings is approximate. The Contractor must perform a test pit program to locate all piping, valving and utilities that may be in the way of the replacement of the drain valves as indicated on the drawings. The contractor shall relocate any utility or pipeline that they believe will impact the valve replacement work or the installation of the new retaining wall. This relocation shall be submitted to the engineer for approval and shall be coordinate with plant operations to ensure they are not impacted in any way. This work could include wet tapping of existing lines to relocate them to allow them to remain in service. The program shall include hand digging of electrical conduit and chemical piping and other small piping and machine excavation for larger pipes with hand digging once exposed. The test pit program shall also locate any valving to be replaced. The program shall be conducted at the initiation of the project to allow the Contractor to properly plan work while maintaining plant facilities and operations. Test pits that occur in paved areas, shall be backfilled and cold patch installed until the final construction work is completed and the area can be repaved. The cold patch shall be maintained by the contractor throughout the length of construction including replacement or refilling due to holes occurring or settlement. The last day to submit questions is September 24, 2024. The work will be within the Final Effluent Pump Station and on the exterior area around the pump station and consists of the following: Replacement of the existing steel suction pipe and gate valves with stainless pipe and new gate valves plus associated structural, electrical and instrumentation work. The work will also include the inspection of the existing sluice gates in the pump stations and structural inspection of wet wells and channels. Civil work includes paving, grading, pipe and valve replacement and the installation of a new retaining wall. Bids shall be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the total Base Bid, made payable to the Suffolk County Comptroller. This bid bond will be held as a guarantee that in the event the bid is accepted and contract awarded to the Bidder, the contract will be duly executed and properly secured.
