DESCRIPTION OF WORK The project includes providing all construction supervision, labor, materials, tools, test equipment necessary for the New Circle Road Sanitary Sewer Trunks A and B - the excavation, trenching, pipe bedding, tunneling, backfi ling, and resurfacing of the realigned and upsized sanitary trunk sewer pipe running along New Circle Road. Construction activities also include replacement of co lector line tie-ins throughout the alignment, with total length of 8-inch diameter to 30-inch diameter sanitary sewer pipe just over 8,400 linear feet. The alignment crossing under New Circle Road, CSX Railroad, North Broadway, and Russell Cave Road will be tunneled into place for these crossings with 36-inch-diameter casing pipe and 24-inch diameter carrier pipe. Notice of requirement for Affirmative Action to ensure Equal Employment Opportunities and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) Contract participation. Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) consists of Minority-Owned Business Enterprises (MBE) and Woman-Owned Business Enterprises (WBE). The OWNER has set a goal that not less than ten percent (10%) of the total value of this Contract be subcontracted to Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, which is made up of MBEs and WBEs, and set a goal that not less than three percent (3%) of the total value of this Contract be subcontracted to Veteran-Owned Small Businesses. The goals for the utilization of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises and Veteran-Owned Smal Businesses as subcontractors are recommended goals. Contractor(s) who fail to meet such goals will be expected to provide written explanations to the Director of the Division of Purchasing of efforts they have made to accomplish the recommended goal, and the extent to which they are successful in accomplishing the recommended goal will be a consideration in the procurement process. Depending on the funding source, other DBE goals may apply.
