The consultant shall be responsible for assessing the presence of asbestos, lead and/or mold in various structures, identifying potential hazards, providing abatement specifications, providing asbestos and/or lead monitoring for specific abatement projects, and providing asbestos, lead and/or mold final clearances in compliance with all Federal, State and Local Regulations and Guidelines. The objective is to provide safe and affordable housing for SHRA residents, and a safe working environment for SHRA employees and contractors working on SHRA owned properties. Many of the public housing units in the inventory are decades old and often need rehabilitation, repairs and/or updates updates. Some of the housing units may contain the presence of asbestos, lead, and/or mold containing materials that will require the removal and/or control measures of these materials prior to any work conducted by SHRA employees or contractors.
