The work to be done under this contract consists of the construction of approximately 775 lineal feet of natural channel stabilization, 98 lineal feet of modular block wall, building demolition, 50 lineal feet of storm pipe sewers varying in size from 12-inch to 18-inch in diameter, and appurtenances to be constructed in an area located south of Interstate 270 and west of Halls Ferry Road, in unincorporated St. Louis County, Missouri. The District reserves the right to reject any and all bids, offers or proposals submitted, to accept the proposal that it deems to be to its best interest, or to advertise for new bids. The District reserves the right to defer the acceptance of any proposal and the award and execution of a contract for a period not exceeding ninety (90) days after the date of opening the bids. The successful bidder, whose proposal has been accepted, shall sign the Contract in duplicate, and return the signed documents within fifteen (15) days after the date of their receipt. At the same time the successful bidder shall also file with the District two (2) copies of both a Contract Bond for one hundred (100%) percent of the contract amount, and an acceptable Certificate of Insurance and Insurance Binder or policy for the required insurance coverage. The Contractor shall commence work within ten (10) days after the date of written notice from the District to begin and shall complete all work within three hundred (300) calendar days after the expiration of such ten (10) day period. If the Contractor does not comply with the foregoing without a written, District approved explanation he may be removed from the list of eligible bidders for future District construction projects until further notice. The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (District) has established subcontractor goals for Building Construction (21% MBE and 10% WBE) and Non-Building Construction (10% MBE and 10% WBE) in the amount of $50,000 or more. Workforce goal requirements of 37% Minority, 11% Women, and 46% Apprentice (when applicable) apply to contracts in the amount of $500,000 or more. The requirements are further explained in the attached Business Diversity Utilization and Workforce Program document. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This project consists of asbestos removal and demolition of houses and adjoining structures such as garages and sheds, at the following address: 10067 Green Valley Drive in St. Louis County, Missouri. The Contractor shall obtain the necessary permits and perform asbestos removal, followed by demolition and site restoration. It will be the Contractors responsibility to maintain the house or other structures in a secure condition during asbestos removal and demolition. The Contractor shall make arrangements and pay for the disconnection of all utilities except gas and electric. MSD will have the gas and electric disconnected prior to the start of demolition. After demolition is complete and the basement filled, the Contractor shall grade the site to the original grades and slopes to the greatest extent possible and then sod the site.
