The proposed project is for both the planning, design, and engineering phase and the construction phase to replace the downtown jail pod. The preliminary project cost is estimated to be $16,900,000, however, this will change based on the architectural plan. The project includes demolishing the existing downtown jail pod, replacing it with a day court holding rooms for inmates, and building a new jail POD at the Countys correctional facility on the eastside of Green Bay. The project will be in conjunction with a larger countywide facility study that will also examine the courthouse complex. As of September 20, 2024, this project is in the Brown County FY 2024 Budget. Further information regarding a design firm or timeline for construction has not yet been established. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
