As of September 23, 2024, this project is under construction. The proposed project consists of reconstructing 0.77 miles of CTH M from Belmont Road to CTH HS in the Villages of Howard and Suamico. Traffic congestion is typical as motorists frequent businesses along this segment of CTH M or go to and from the elementary, intermediate and high schools located on the west end of the corridor. A capacity analysis was completed on CTH M in June of 2017. The results of the analysis showed that existing and projected traffic volumes warrant an expansion to a four-lane facility. The new and expanded roadway will consist of an urban roadway with two 12-foot lanes in each direction with a twoway left-turn lane from Rockwell Lane (main entrance to Bay Port High School) to CTH HS. New two-lane roundabouts will be constructed at Rockwell Lane and Cardinal Avenue. The roadway will have 7-inches of asphalt placed. A new 12-foot asphalt multi-use trail (north side) and a 5-foot concrete sidewalk (south side) will be constructed as much as State Law permits per State Statue 32.015. The speed limit on this roadway is currently posted at 35 mph and will not be changing as a result of this project. This segment of roadway has a Pavement Surface Evaluation Rating (PASER) of 4 and 5. The rating system is based on a scale of 1 to 10 with a 10 rating being excellent condition (newly placed pavement) and a 1 rating being failed condition. Surface maintenance is considered necessary when a rating of 4 or below is assessed.
