The project includes the removal of an existing single span steel beam open grate bridge including abutments, wingwalls and footers; and replacement with a single span reinforced concrete bridge (or a single span reinforced concrete culvert) including wingwalls and footers. The existing bridge has an overall span of 15'-5", the existing bridge roadway has a curb to curb width (between railings) of 25 feet. The proposed bridge (or culvert) has an overall span of 16 feet, the proposed bridge (or culvert) roadway has a curb to curb width (between railings) of 32'. Construction will occur in a Township right-of-way and will include all required demolition, grading, restoration work, installation of bituminous concrete pavement, lawn area restoration, along with provisions for all necessary erosion and sedimentation controls. The bidder's attention is called to the fact that the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act applies to this Contract, if the estimated cost of the project is in excess of $25,000 and that the successful bidder shall pay no less than the wage rates determined for the project area as set forth in the Contract Documents. The successful bidder must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex or national origin. Bids must be accompanied by a certified check, bank draft or bid bond issued by a surety company licensed to conduct business in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in the amount of at least ten percent (10%) of the total price bid made payable to the Township.
