Questions due by: 5:00 p.m., January 9, 2024 All questions concerning this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) should be submitted via email to: Rebecca Cipriano, Project Manager rcipriano@ashevillenc.gov Projected Project Start March 2024 The City of Asheville is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced companies to design, supply and install a playground for Carrier Park within the existing play area footprint. Carrier Park is located at 220 Amboy Road, Asheville, NC 28806. The City is looking to replace the aging wooden playground with like-kind materials and similar layout and number of play components. Community input has indicated the nostalgic wood feel and unique play experience of the existing equipment are desired in the new playground. The new playground is to be modernized with more durable materials (recycled plastic wood) and meet all current safety regulations. The playground should provide a variety of play experiences including: imaginative play, toddler swings, climbing equipment, slides and ADA accessible equipment for children of all ages. The fall surfacing is to be playground safety mulch. Based on the qualifications the highest-ranking firm will be selected for negotiations for a contract. Anticipated project budget is $420,000. Questions pertaining to the bid will be answered in the form of a written addenda posted to the City of Asheville's bid page no later than (7) days before the opening of bids. The City of Asheville reserves the right to reject any or all Letters of Interest and Statements of Qualifications. Scope of Consultant Services: 1. The selected team shall provide a turn key product including all design, equipment, materials and labor required to install a new playground. It is recommended that the selected team have advanced skills in the design and building of high quality fiber reinforced recycled plastic lumber playgrounds. Site will be cleared of all old equipment by others. Provide and install engineered wood fiber mulch. 2. Planning: Provide design recommendations for achieving an engaging design, develop cost estimates for project development and materials/install budget, provide a conceptual design, coordinate with city staff to review and approve final design. 3. Materials: After the City approves the final design, the selected team shall prepare construction documents and determine final estimates of material quantities to be used in the playground. 4. Build: The selected team shall provide comprehensive installation services including all equipment, materials and labor required to complete the new playground per the approved plans. Provide all installation administration services and coordination with City Staff.
