The work includes: The Sudbury Reservoir impounds the emergency Sudbury Reservoir in Southborough Massachusetts. The 300-foot long ashlar granite and grouted rubble gravity spillway section is located in the north-central portion of the dam. The upstream crest and downstream spillway has deteriorated mortar joints that must be repaired. The downstream spillway face has missing and nonfunctioning weep holes, efflorescence, and vegetation that must be addressed. The spillway will also require cleaning in advance of repointing and repairs. There is also some repointing required on the downstream training walls and upstream gatehouse. Inside the gatehouse, the discharge deflection plate on Wet well #3 and the internal vent pipe have failed and must be rebuilt for efficient discharge. The estimated project cost is: $1,600,000.00 The contract duration is 180 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed date. DESCRIPTION OF WORK A. The Work required by the Plans and Specifications shall include furnishing all labor, skill, supervision, tools, required permits, testing, construction plant, equipment and materials and performing all operations necessary to complete the Work as shown on the Plans and Specifications, and as required by the Authority. The Work shall generally consist of, but not be limited to, the following: 1. Establish erosion and sedimentation control measures including, but not limited to compost filter sock and turbidity curtain as shown on contract drawings. 2. Coordinate work with MWRA, including lowering of reservoir level to allow all work to occur in the dry, as directed. 3. Provide scaffolding and other equipment as necessary to safely access and complete the Work. The Contractor shall provide MWRA safe access to inspect all portions of the Work. The Contractor shall not use any Authority-Owned hoisting equipment in the gatehouse. Existing anchors in the dam masonry shall be evaluated by the Contractor for safety prior to and during usage. 4. Clean efflorescence at areas above water level at upstream and downstream spillway, downstream training (wing) walls below weep holes, and at the Gatehouse walls below Elevation 266.0. 5. Clean weep holes, replace weep holes as shown on the drawings, and install new weep holes as directed by the Authority. 6. At the spillway, remove piezometers PZ-01-1 at GZ-01 and PZ-11-1 at GZ11, and repair masonry. 7. Repoint deteriorated masonry joints at upstream and downstream spillway, training walls, exterior gatehouse walls and the splash wall as shown on contract drawings. 8. Slush grout at joints in stone masonry at base of dam near the bell mouth as shown on the drawings.
