The project includes the Work to physically verify the materials of one hundred forty-one (141) water service lines located throughout the City. Addresses where the Work will be performed are provided with these Contract Documents. A map of the corresponding Work locations is also provided. The Contractor will perform potholing at a minimum of two (2) locations per service line and at a minimum distance of 18 inches from the curb stop. One pothole shall be excavated on each side of the curb stop to verify the pipe materials. A total of 282 excavations and associated material verifications will be completed. To the extent feasible, the potholes should be located within the green belt of each service line. Pavement removal and replacement should be minimized. The anticipated depth of pipe is approximately 5 feet below grade, but may be up to 7 feet. The Contractor should prepare for sandy loam soils. The Contractor will be responsible for coordinating Work in the public Right of Way with the City DPW staff, providing suitable backfill, handling and disposal of unsuitable spoils, and complete surface restoration of disturbed areas. The Owner will be responsible for locating curb stops for the Contractor and coordinating Contractor's Work on private property with the property owners. For all further requirements regarding bid submittal, qualifications, procedures, and contract award, refer to the Instructions to Bidders that are included in the Bidding Documents. The City of Belding reserves the right to accept any bid, reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and make the award in any manner deemed in the best interest of the City A pre-bid conference will not be held. The City of Belding reserves the right to accept any bid, reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and make the award in any manner deemed in the best interest of the City A Bid must be accompanied by Bid security made payable to Owner in an amount of 5% of Bidder's maximum Bid price (determined by adding the base bid and all alternates) and in the form of a Bid bond issued by a surety. Such Bid bond will be issued in the form included in the Bidding Documents.
