Wyckoff Board of Education will be receiving sealed bids at the board offices located at 241 Morse Avenue, Wyckoff, N.J. 07481, for the Partial Roof Replacement at Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School. B Every bid must be accompanied by a certified check or a bid bond in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the bid, but not in excess of $20,000.00. The Wyckoff Board of Education reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive any minor informality in the bidding process in accordance with the law if it is in the best interest of the Board of Education. Work includes: 1. Legal removal of existing roofing, flashings, insulation and related materials as indicated on drawings. 2. Localized deck reattachment/repair/replacement. 3. Installation of the following: a. Hot applied built-up modified rolled bituminous membrane roofing system. b. Specified flashings and accessories. 5. Installation of miscellaneous flashings and accessories. 1.3 INTENT OF THE SPECIFICATIONS: A. The intent of these specifications is to describe the materials and methods of construction required for the performance of the work. In general, it is intended that the drawings shall delineate the detailed extent of the work. When there is a discrepancy between drawings, referenced specifications, and standards and this specification, this specification shall govern. B. Before preparing and submitting a bid, it is mandatory that each bidder visit the site to determine the extent of roof replacement and associated work. Each bidder shall fully inform itself prior to bidding as to existing conditions and limitations under which this work will be performed and shall include in its bid a sum to cover the cost of all items necessary to perform the work as set forth in Division 7 of the specification. 1. The work includes the complete legal removal of all existing roofing material including built-up roofing plies, ballast (gravel), gyp board, flashing and counter flashing, aluminum gravel stop, and wood or fiber cants. 2. Install a complete new built-up modified hot applied rolled roofing system on rigid gyp board, and flashing and counter flashing, for a complete new watertight roof installation. Also included shall be the temporary support and re-installation of existing roof equipment during installation of new curbs, and as required for the installation of the new roofing and system at the built-up roofing roofs. 3. Protect all existing construction, such as roof vents, mechanical vents and curbs, rooftop units, adjacent roof areas, etc. Damage to existing construction or equipment shall be restored to the satisfaction of the Architect at no additional cost to the Owner. 4. The Contractor shall be advised that the Contract for this work shall be awarded by the Board of Education as soon as possible after receipt of bids. If said bids are within budgeted amounts, the actual work by Contractors shall commence on June 26, 2024 and all work shall be completed no later than August 13, 2024. The contractor shall pay the Owner the sum specified in the Instruction to Bidders as liquidated damages, not as a penalty, for each calendar day the project is delayed. All bidders must use and complete all bid forms and must comply with every requirement contained in the instructions and specifications. Bids are to be marked in a sealed envelope and delivered to Wyckoff Board of Education at 241 Morse Avenue, Wyckoff, N.J. 07481, with the name of the project, "Partial Roof Replacement at Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School" plainly marked on the front of the envelope.
