Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid security made payable to Porter County in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of bidder's total bid and in the form of a bank cashier's check, bank draft, certified check, or bid bond, on the Bid Bond Form included in the bidding documents, or a form otherwise approved by the Porter County Department of Development & Storm Water Management, executed in accordance with the provisions of Article 19 of the Instructions to Bidders, and issued by a surety acceptable to the Owner and authorized to transact business under the laws of the state of Indiana. The bid security shall stand as a guarantee that the successful bidder will, within ten days after receipt of the notice of award, execute and deliver the contract documents and furnish the required contract security, certificates of insurance, and insurance policy endorsements. If the successful bidder fails to execute and deliver the contract documents and furnish the required contract security, certificates of insurance, and insurance policy endorsements within ten days after receipt of the notice of award, Owner may consider bidder to be in default, annul the notice of award, and the bid security of that bidder shall be forfeited as liquidated damages. PROJECT LOCATION The project is located along Carriage Lane Road, west of North 550 East, in the Carriage Hills Subdivision. The project is located in Section 14, Township 35 North, Range 5 West, in Jackson Township, Porter County, Indiana. PROJECT DESCRIPTION This project consists of the installation of new storm water infrastructure, including storm sewer and storm sewer structures to address long-standing drainage and flooding issues affecting the area along Carriage Lane Road. The project includes the installation of storm sewers, via open trench construction including excavation, placing bedding and haunching, laying storm sewer pipe, placing initial backfill, placing final backfill, shaping, trimming and finishing, and cleaning, inspecting, and testing; installation of storm sewer structures, including excavation, placing bedding, setting precast reinforced concrete storm sewer structures, placing adjusting rings and castings, backfilling, shaping, trimming, and finishing, and cleaning; and, the partial reconstruction of Carriage Lane Road, which will be disturbed during performance of the work. Excess excavated material generated during the performance of the work shall be disposed of off-site, at an appropriate and, if applicable, properly permitted offsite location. The project also includes other items incidental to the work, including clearing and tree removal, maintenance of traffic, erosion and sediment control, and the restoration of areas disturbed during the performance of the work. The work includes the carrying out of all duties and obligations and the furnishing of all labor, material, tools, equipment, and other incidentals necessary or convenient to the successful completion of the project. 1.
