The City of Republic ("City") is soliciting proposals from individual(s)/firm(s) for the demolition of the City of Republic-owned buildings at 221 and 225 North Main Street in accordance with the terms, conditions, and specifications contained in this Request for Proposal (RFP). The proposals solicited with this Request are further detailed in the Scope of Services section, below. The selected individual(s)/firm(s) will enter into a Contract with the Mayor, City Council, and/or Supervisory Staff Member for the provision of specified services. Performance Bond and Labor & Materials Payment Bond (applies only to projects involving labor): Pursuant to Section 107.170, RS Mo., if the total cost of the project is estimated to exceed $50,000.00, the successful Submitter shall execute a Performance and Maintenance Bond and a Labor and Materials Payment Bond with surety, approved by the City and on forms approved by the City, each bond shall be in the amount of the total project cost, conditioned upon the full and faithful performance of all major terms and conditions of the RFP and payment of all labor and material supplies. Liquidated Damages: Time of completion of the Project by the Successful Submitter is of the essence. Should the Successful Submitter fail to complete the Project within the time specified in the governing contract/schedule, without express authorization by the City allowing for an extension of time to completion, the Successful Submitter shall be liable to the City in the amount of $100 per day for each and every calendar day the Project remains uncompleted, as liquidated damages, and not as a penalty, it being stipulated and agreed that the actual damages to the City arising from the Successful Submitter's failure to timely complete the Project would be difficult, if not impossible, to reasonably ascertain. Assessment of liquidated damages will not relieve the Successful Submitter, or its surety/ies, of any responsibility or obligation under the Contract. The City intends to enter into negotiation(s) of potential contract(s) under this Request for Proposal beginning on or about the first week of February, 2024. If a contract or contracts are successfully negotiated, the City will present the negotiated contract(s) to the Republic City Council for approval. The City desires to have the scope of work completed pursuant to a fully executed contract or contracts by or near the end of March, 2024 or sooner. The City of Republic reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, in whole or in part, to waive minor defects in the process, with or without cause, and to accept the proposal deemed by the City to be in the City's best interest. There is no expressed or implied obligation for the City of Republic to reimburse responding individuals/firms for any expenses incurred in the preparation of responses to this Request for Proposal. The City of Republic is requesting proposals for a project consisting of two tasks: o Task 1: Survey, Testing and Disposal, as described below, of the structures currently erected at 221 North Main Street (including attached metal building) and 225 North Main Street. o Task 2: Demolition, as described below, of the structures currently erected at 221 North Main Street (including attached metal building) and 225 North Main Street. Respondents may choose to include proposals for one or both tasks. Respondents submitting proposals for both tasks must provide separate costs by task. The City of Republic is seeking the most cost-effective outcome and will, therefore, be evaluating the two tasks separately. The City of Republic reserves the right to select one, two, or no tasks from a given response.
