The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) is requesting proposals to Repair Fire Alarm Systems Unit Wide - Lewis Unit in Woodville, Texas. This project is to repair the fire alarm system to include fire alarm control panels, hose reels, standpipes, fire protection sprinkler system, and fire suppression system required to comply with the NFPA Life Safety Codes in multiple buildings. Lewis Unit, Woodville, Texas as shown by the Statement of Work as prepared by TDCJ. Contractor must provide evidence that demonstrates the contractor is qualified to satisfactorily perform the specified work and, the contractor shall submit written evidence to include a minimum of three (3) projects completed within the last ten (10) years of similar work, size, and complexity to include the owner's name, telephone number, location, type of facility, construction cost and the date of completion with all bid proposals. Contractors are required to submit a HUB Subcontracting Plan as detailed in Exhibit 1. Failure to submit a completed HUB Subcontracting Plan will result in the bid being rejected from further consideration. Contractor must be bondable and insurable at the levels required. All bid proposals must be accompanied by a Bid Deposit in the amount of 5% of greatest amount bid. Performance and Payment Bonds in the amount of 100% of the contract amount will be required upon award of a contract. Only one scheduled site visit will be held for reasons of security and public safety; therefore, bidders must attend. Due to strict security please be aware that entrance to the unit will be denied to anyone in possession of any items to include, but not limited to, any of the following: weapons (including pocketknives), tobacco products, alcohol, cell phones, pagers and more than $25.00. Visitors are subjected to searches as they enter the facility and may be required to walk through electronic scanning equipment such as metal detectors. Access to the facility will be denied to anyone not willing to be searched. Appropriate attire required. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice requires the Contractor to make a good faith effort to include Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB's) in at least 21.1% of the total value of this construction contract award. Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum wage rates prescribed in the Special Conditions must be paid on these projects.
