Demolish remains of the Marginal Wharf and the power plant saltwater intake, both of which are located in Inner Women’s Bay at Base Kodiak. Project is largely environmental in nature due to Endangered Species Act issues and site contamination (primarily sediments in vicinity of Marginal Wharf). Migratory bird restrictions exist in this area. Contractor shall establish a monitoring area known as the exclusion zone for Stellar’s Eiders. Demolition activity MUST NOT occur on the marginal wharf from February 01, 2023, thru September 30, 2023. Demolition of the Saltwater Intake facility is not restricted. Contractor shall establish a marine mammal monitoring area known as the exclusion zone that satisfy USFWS and NMFS requirements.
