Mistawasis Nehiyawak First Nation propose to construct a new 1,775 square meter (19,106 square feet) Community centre facility. The facility will be located on the Mistawasis Nehiyawak First Nation. Tender is anticipated for November 2023 with construction starting as soon as awarded with a completion date of December 2025. The Community Centre is designed to be a single storey octagonal shaped building with a crawlspace under a portion of the building. The Community Hall in the centre portion of the building has a higher elevation than the remainder of the building. The hall construction consists of concrete slab floor, ICF walls with clerestory windows, glulam column and truss structure, and a copper clad pitched roof with centre skylight. The outer ring portion of the building contains a gallery area, meeting room complete with kitchenette, elder's room complete with kitchenette, a rest room and a treatment room, kitchen, janitor's rooms, flex rooms, stage with folding partition, and washrooms. There is a lift for barrier free access to the stage. An additional building wing contains the mechanical and electrical rooms, exit corridor, and storage room. The outer ring and wing have a crawlspace underneath, and their construction consists of concrete grade beam and pile foundation, hollow core concrete floor, steel column and beam structure with steel stud infill, open web steel roof joists, metal roof deck, and steel stud interior walls. The new building will be located on farmland that is currently leased. The portion of land required for the new community centre will be designated for this use under the Mistawasis Land Code. Submittals from interested General Contractors shall be based upon CCDC Document 11-2019 as well as supplementary documentation to demonstrate managerial, safety and financial-bonding capabilities. Only Contractors who have completed projects of this scope, complexity and timeline will be considered. Please note that General Contractor experience with First Nations would be advantageous and will be taken into consideration in the prequalification review.
