The City of Redding is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking design and engineering services for the development of features including: o Destination-level playground with spray/misting/water feature o Arrival and activities plaza o Flex greenspace o Pickleball court complex o Youth area, including a skate plaza, basketball court, lounge areas, climbing, and rope features. o Improvements and renovations to existing restrooms, baseball field, and bocce ball courts o Conversion of existing pathways to a walking/jogging loop with wayfinding and distance markers o Lighting and landscaping throughout o Small dog park o Removal of the existing tennis courts and basketball courts o Pathways, including a looped and lighted trail, signs, utility connections, and landscaping components that enhance the aesthetics, quality, security and usability of the facility for park patrons o Site features such as benches, water fountains, garbage cans, wayfinding signage and other suggested elements o Other requirements: o Project funding may require enforcement of Build America, Buy America Act (BABAA) o There should be a focus on the construction budget, aesthetics, flexibility, and long-term facility maintenance needs. o The City is seeking a design where form supports function and place making and CPTED principals are followed. o There should be an intentional synergy between the spaces. o Environmentally responsible design, including green elements and infrastructure where budget permits or long-term advantage exists. o A facility designed on time and able to be delivered within the approved budget. The design shall also include master planning efforts for future improvements by identifying locations, stubbing utilities, installing conduits, and anticipating future construction. The plan sets shall account for the footprint of each feature, design and engineer conduits and utilities as needed, reduce obstacles for future construction, and select features with a low budget impact such as landscaping as placeholders for a 4,500 square foot recreational building to house recreational programs, events and camps, supporting public outdoor recreation.
