Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check or cash of not less than ten (10%) percent of the bid payable without any conditional endorsement as a guarantee that in case the contract is awarded to the bidder, he will within ten (10) days thereafter execute such contract and furnish satisfactory performance bond. Upon failure to do so, he shall forfeit the bid security as liquidated damages and the acceptance of the bid will be contingent upon the fulfillment of this requirement by the bidder. No interest shall be allowed upon any such certified check or cash. A bid bond in the amount of ten (10%) percent of the bid may be substituted for certified check or cash, except the amount of the bid security shall not be less than $500.00 - nor more than $20,000.00. Each bid must be accompanied by a Certificate of Experience and Certificate of Equipment. The project proposes improvements on Second Avenue between North Bath Avenue and Broadway, approximately 4,500 linear feet of road. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to concrete and pavement improvements. Major bid items include 21,390 square yards of HMA Milling, 3" or Less, 2,695 tons of HMA 9.5M64 Surface Course, 2" Thick, 3,740 square yards of Concrete Sidewalk, 4" Thick, 7,380 linear feet of 8"x18" Concrete Vertical Curb. The City Council of the City of Long Branch reserves the right to reject any or all bids if in its opinion it is in the best interest of the City to do so.
