On November 7, 2023 voters will be asked to consider a bond request for new and expanded facilities. With approval of the bond, facility improvements would be completed by Fall 2026. That means today's kindergarten students would begin grade 3 in the new elementary schools. Projects included in the bond: Replacing Lake Elmo Elementary: replace Lake Elmo Elementary (originally built in 1920) with a larger, modern facility on a 47-acre site located on the northwest corner of Lake Elmo Avenue and 10th Street North. (Purchase of the land is contingent on passage of the bond.) Replacing Andersen Elementary School: replace Andersen Elementary (originally built in 1919) with a larger, modern facility. While an exact location has not yet been determined, district officials are working with the City of Bayport to find a site within the city limits. Additional sites further south in Baytown Township are also being considered, but the purchase of any land would be contingent on passage of the bond. Expanding Oak-Land Middle School: Construction of additional classroom space and a new gymnasium at Oak-Land Middle School to make room for an additional 300 students. Improving Safety & Security: Safety and security improvements throughout district facilities, including: a secured front entrance addition and remodel at Stillwater Area High School; Security strobe lights added in all buildings for high noise areas and outdoor spaces. This would ensure students and staff are alerted to an emergency, even if they are unable to hear an announcement over a loudspeaker; and Security glazing on windows at points of entry and/or building separations for schools that don't already have this.
