The work to be done consists of furnishing all materials, equipment, tools, labor, and incidentals as required by the Specifications and Contract Documents. The general items of work include abatement of Asbestos debris in the attic space of the jail wing of the South Gate Police Department and lead dust removal from the top of lockers in the Police Department men's locker room. Work to include removal of asbestos debris which has fallen down from asbestos-cement interior roof panels which were damaged by roof nail penetration, removal of any loose material on the damaged panels and sealing of the damaged areas of the asbestos cement interior roof panels with a post-asbestos abatement lockdown sealer. In addition, the work will in Also, the HVAC project will require penetration of the roof at approximately 11 locations. The dimensions of each penetration will be approximately vary between 1SF and 8 SF. The asbestos subcontractor will be required to coordinate with the HVAC contractor to provide abatement of asbestos disturbed by these new roof penetrations by removing any debris generated and sealing the damaged asbestos remaining in place at the roof penetration. In addition, the contractor will remove lead dust from the top of lockers in the Locker Room, clean and provide certification that lead dust has been removed Bids will not be received unless they are made on a proposal form furnished in the Contract Documents by the City of South Gate. Each bid must be accompanied by cash, certified check, cashier's check or bidder's bond, made payable to the City of South Gate for an amount equal to at least ten percent (10%) of the amount bid, such guarantee to be forfeited should the bidder to whom the contract is awarded fail to enter into the Contract. Location of Work Police Department: 8620 California Avenue, South Gate, CA 90280. Time of Completion All work to be done under this contract shall be completed within a total of Thirty (30) Workings Days, beginning on the date stipulated in the written "Notice to Proceed" to be issued by the City. The project is anticipated to require three work periods and three corresponding mobilizations with an interlude between each Attention is directed to Government Code Sections 4590 and 14402.5 permitting the substitution of specified and approved securities for contract retention of funds. All such securities shall be subject to the review and approval of the City Attorney for the City of South Gate. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a payment bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price and said bonds shall be secured from a surety company satisfactory to the City Attorney for the City of South Gate. The City of South Gate reserves the right to reject any and all bids or delete portions of any and all bids or waive any informality or irregularity in the bid or the bid procedures and shall be the sole judge of the bids received. Contract Documents - All data provided by the City associated with the Work, including but not limited to, Bid Instructions, General Provisions, Supplemental Provisions, Addenda, Plans, Specifications, and all other data as may be referred to under the Terms and Conditions of the Contract Agreement between the City and the CONTRACTOR. Liability Insurance The insurance limits specified in Subsection 5-4.2 General Liability Insurance of the Standard Specifications shall be amended as follows: Contractor shall provide a combined single limit liability policy with aggregate limits for Bodily Injury and Property Damage in an amount not less than one million dollars ($1,000,000). Liquidated Damages The liquidated damages, as described in Section 6-9 of the Standard Specifications for Public Works construction are changed to $1,630 per calendar day Any questions by email or by telephone will not be answered.
