The overall objective is to provide greater cage washing capacity including the ability to wash racks and to do so in a rack washer with separated clean and dirty side operation. This is needed in order to make better use of the space available in the facility and to meet CCAC guidelines. The new rack washing system will be the sole piece of washer equipment for the facility due to space restrictions and as such it must be able to process both water bottles and animal cages (primarily IVC mouse cages as well as some conventional shoebox mouse and rat cages). It must also be able to accommodate cage racks, including Tecniplast Greenline 70 cage IVC racks. The washer should be able to mount flush on floor (no pit) but with low profile sumps to limit the height from the floor and to minimize the length of ramping required to push/pull racks into and out of washer.
