PROJECT BACKGROUND Nash County desires to engage an Architectural and/or Engineering Firm to assist with the proposed expansion of the Nash County Senior Center located at 103 N. Alston Street, Nashville, NC. Professional services are expected to include, but not be limited to, space needs assessment and planning, design, advertisement and bidding, contract administration, and construction inspection services for the proposed expansion. The site (depicted below) contains approximately 0.91 acres (Nash County PARID 004440) and is adjacent to the current building which includes approximately 8,700 square feet. In addition to providing additional space for programming and support services for the Senior Center, there is an interest in exploring the ability to provide office space for Nash County's Parks & Recreation Department and for Veteran's Services. The potential relocation of Parks & Recreation from the Administration Building is intended to capitalize on synergy between this department and Senior Services. There is also an interest in evaluating the possibility of relocating Veteran's Services to this location due to the overlap between the Veteran's Services Office and Senior Services in the population served. From the perspective of Senior Services, overarching objectives for the proposed expansion include space to accommodate an expanded billiards area, a computer lab/computer learning lab, a multipurpose room, staff offices, and an expansion to the current fitness area. In terms of Parks & Recreation, the primary need is for administrative office space for existing and future staff due to growth and expansion of recreational programs offered to county residents. Veteran's Services needs primarily revolve around providing an intake and processing for clients and office space for administrative staff. B. SCOPE OF WORK The anticipated scope of services to be provided on this project include, but are not limited to, the following items to the extent necessary to provide a complete, accurate and fully coordinated design. a) Design Development meetings with County staff sufficient to understand the functional needs and desired aspects of the project. b) Evaluation of existing mechanical systems and capital needs associated with the existing building. c) Preparation of the Construction Documents to include plans / details, specifications, and project manual. d) Obtaining all state and local permitting required for development and construction of the proposed project. e) Advertising and Bidding assistance. f) Construction Administration and monthly site visits with inspection progress reports. g) Any other services customarily furnished by a design team on similar projects. Questions regarding this RFQ should be directed to Ashley Winstead, Senior Services Director via email to ashley.winstead@nashcountync.gov or by phone at 252-459-1365. Questions of general interest will be shared with all known respondents. Therefore, potential respondents should make their intention to submit known to Nash County in order to receive any future addenda or clarifications, and knowledge thereof is entirely the respondents' burden.
