THIS PRESOLICITATION NOTICE IS ISSUED FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY TO PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR FALL VIEWING, OF THE PROJECT SITE, PRIOR TO ISSUANCE OF THE SOLICITATION. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL/QUOTE OR BID. The Forest Service anticipates issuing a full solicitation at a time when the project site will likely be covered in snow or access is unavailable due to winter closures. Interested vendors are encouraged to visit the site prior to closure for a full understanding and, if desired, take photo's or video Site Visit Information: The function of the Forest Service site visit is to show the on-the-ground condition and location of the work areas, boundaries and other in-place markers, and the routes of travel that may be utilized in going to and from the work areas. ACCESS: Directional information may be obtained from Middle Fork Ranger District at 208-879-4100. Some areas are located behind locked gates and must be viewed on the scheduled site visit, or "walk-in" may be required. Interested parties desiring to visit units on their own should coordinate travel with the Middle Fork Ranger District. Maps will be available at the District Office. Project Summary: The Salmon-Challis National Forest may issue Solicitation No. 1240LT24R0007 for gravel surfacing approximately 9.5 miles of NFSR 40579 and 1 mile of NSFR 40568 (Boundary Creek Road) on the Middle Fork Ranger District of the Salmon-Challis National Forest this spring. The current volume estimate for gravel surfacing is at around 25,000 to 30,000 CY, depending on funding. Gravel may be commercial source or crushed from Cape Horn, Blind Summit, or other government pits to be determined, to be amended with 1 to 3 percent bentonite to achieve desired properties. This is not a solicitation and in no way commits the Government to award a contract. The Government does not intend to award a contract(s) based solely on this site visit nor does it intend to pay for any costs incurred in response to this announcement. The intent of this notice is to ensure that prospective bidders may see the areas prior to snowfall obscuring the ground or preventing access prior to issuing the solicitation. This solicitation should be issued in the Spring of 2024. The work anticipated under any contract resulting from the solicitation will be started around August 1, 2024.
