To support increasing demand for residential hospice care in the Campbell River community, Island Health is interested in relocating 4 existing Hospice beds and adding 2 new hospice beds to introduce a six (6) bed Community Hospice Unit in Campbell River. TIMELINE: Proposals that provide the option for six (6) hospice beds should consider the following: Core Space/Functional Requirements All Residential Care Regulations apply to the Hospice rooms 6 dedicated Hospice rooms, co located in a distinct area with attached private bathroom including shower and a standard lift in each room Tub room in close proximity The tub could be part of the residential care building as long as it is reasonably accessible to the residents in Hospice Hospice rooms should be at least 25m2 including the washroom to provide adequate space for a recliner and a cot for a loved one Gathering space with public washroom including Space for a dining/lounge/recreation area A single family room/dining room/lounge with a kitchenette Nursing station in close proximity to hospice cluster Include secure medication room for narcotics Separate entrance to the hospice cluster Dedicated parking Easy access to garden/outside space Tray service is required
