The City of Independence, Kansas, is requesting bids for chemicals to be used at the Independence Water Treatment Plant for the calendar year 2024. Each supplier may bid on one or more chemicals as they so desire and bids will be awarded on each chemical separately. The Plant has an offset loading dock, which is approached from a residential street. Long trailers don't work well and the City Staff will not be responsible for offloading the truck for safety reasons. The driver is responsible for having the proper equipment to place the order in its storage area. (One Ton Chlorine Cylinders are the only exception) Following is a list of the chemicals and the anticipated use of each so supplier will be able to anticipate the amount the plant will use. The bids shall be for material manufactured and produced in the United States, with NSF 60 standard certification. Chemicals shall be FOB Independence, Kansas, with all freight, taxes or other related charges included in the bid price. Freight cost changes during the year will be accepted by the city upon a sixty (60) day notification by the supplier. Due to the unstable cost of chemicals, price changes during the year will be accepted by the city upon a sixty (60) day notice by the supplier. The City of Independence reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids or to waive any informality which may occur as may best benefit the city. The City further reserves the right to reject any one or more of the chemical bids which a supplier may furnish. The City also reserves the right at any time during the year to reject any chemical found to be of an inferior quality or not giving the reaction desired for the water treatment process. This reservation also includes the right to terminate, upon notice to the supplier, any further usage of the chemical and to accept material from another supplier. For any questions or further information, please contact; Ed Sykes Chief Operator Water Treatment Plant (620) 332-2515.
