The project includes constructing a pedestrian bridge over Cobb Parkway near Battery Avenue. The bridge will improve pedestrian safety while providing connectivity to development in the area. Cobb County Department of Transportation (CCDOT), Cumberland Community Improvement District (CCID), and City of Smyrna are working jointly to support construction of a pedestrian bridge over Cobb Parkway (SR3/US41) near Battery Avenue. The pedestrian bridge will provide a safe, elevated crossing for pedestrians over the high volume, six-lane corridor to connect the Battery Atlanta's mixed-use community and the City of Smyrna. The preferred bridge layout is to eliminate the use of elevators for access while maintaining ADA compliance. The proposed bridge is anticipated to have decorative architectural details (structures, lighting, landscaping, etc.) as it will be the gateway into the CCID, Cumberland area, and the City of Smyrna. The pedestrian bridge will have a great economic impact. This critical infrastructure will link communities together and allow for residents, workers, and visitors to access the community safely and efficiently.
