Successful bidder shall begin the Work on receipt of the Notice to Proceed and shall complete the Work within the Contract Time. Contract shall be completed by March 31, 2024. Bidders must be properly licensed under the laws governing their respective trades and be able to obtain insurance and bonds required for the Work. Each BID must be accompanied by a BID BOND payable to the OWNER for ten (10) percent of the total amount of the BID to include, if applicable, all bid alternates. When the Agreement is executed the bonds of the unsuccessful BIDDERS will be returned, upon request. The BID BOND of the successful BIDDER will be retained until the payment BOND and performance BOND have been executed and approved, after which it will be returned, upon request. A certified check may be used in lieu of a BID BOND. A performance BOND and a payment BOND, each in the amount of 100 percent of the CONTRACT PRICE, with a corporate surety approved by the OWNER, will be required for the faithful performance of the Contract. Bidders may ask questions for clarification regarding scope of work. All questions and answers will be posted on the City of Lewes website with the RFB. Questions can be emailed AFTER the mandatory bid meeting to maintenance@ci.lewes.de.us and answers will be posted on the City website with the RFB. Bidders' Questions are due on Wednesday October 25, 2023 at 3:00 pm: Engineer will provide responses to bidders' questions on Thursday October 26, 2023.
