Reference Number 0000333017 The City of Englewood (City) Utilities Department is seeking qualified contractors to construct the Clarkson & Hampden Booster Pump Station Improvements Project. The Clarkson & Hampden Booster Pump Station is located in the sidewalk at the northeast corner of the intersection of S. Clarkson Street and E Hampden Avenue. The pump station is located in an underground vault and consists of two horizontal split case pumps and a bypass line that boost pressure from the City's largest pressure zone to an elevated pressure zone that connects to it. The pumps are on variable frequency drives (VFDs) and modulate to maintain a constant pressure in the city's elevated pressure pzone. The elevated pressure zone provides necessary water pressure to critical customers, including some of the nearby medical facilities. A condition assessment was conducted in 2021 and most of the equipment was determined to be at the end of its useful life and has caused maintenance challenges for Utilities staff. Feasibility studies determined that in-kind replacements of most of the equipment in the vault would best serve the needs of the City's water customers. This project is being funded by the City's loan provided by the United States Environmental Protection Agency's Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act program (WIFIA).
