The Town of Braintree, pursuant to MGL c. 149, 44A-44J, seeks sealed bids for the Asbestos Abatement and Replacement project at the following location: Old South Middle School 232 Peach Street Braintree, MA 02184. Awarding Authority: The Town of Braintree, Braintree, Massachusetts Invitation to bid: Asbestos Abatement and Replacement Location: Old South Middle School, 232 Peach Street, Braintree, MA. One sealed bid in envelope plainly marked: "Bid for Asbestos Abatement and Replacement for Town of Braintree Old South Middle School Braintree, Massachusetts" The work includes: Removal and disposal of asbestos containing materials and Replacement as called out in the specifications. Refer to Appendix A for the table of approximate quantities. Each BID shall be accompanied by a bid security in the amount of 5% of the Total Bid Price. Pursuant to M.G.L. c. 149, 29, the Contractor shall furnish a performance bond in an amount of 100% of the total Contract price and a payment bond in an amount of 100% of the total Contract price from a surety company qualified to do business under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and satisfactory to the Awarding Authority or furnished and materials used or employed therein, when the Contract is executed. Attention is also called to requirements relating to Workmen's Compensation and conditions of employment. Bids may be held by the Owner for a period not to exceed (180) days from the date of the opening of the bids, Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays excluded, for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of bidders, prior to awarding the contract. The Awarding Authority reserves the right to waive informalities, to reject any and all bids and to award the Contract in the best interest of the Awarding Authority. Awarding of this project is subject to Awarding Authority approval and funding.
