Reference Number AB-2023-06175 Work to Be Performed The Work Covered by the Following Specifications Shall Include All Labour, Equipment, and Materials to Conduct "2024 Roadside Brushing & Ditch Improvements". The Awarded Contractor Will Be Responsible for All Alberta One Call Requests, Surveying/marking All Right of Way Boundaries, and All Traffic Accommodation. Proposed Brushing Locations Can Be Found in "Appendix a". Brushing All Brush Within the Road Right of Way is to Be Removed. All Brushing Must Comply With All Rules and Regulations for Rap Period (Restricted Access Periods for Nesting Birds). This Includes Alberta Energy Regulator's "Master Schedule of Standards and Conditions" and Environment and Climate Change Canada 's "Migratory Birds Convention Act". If a Functional Fence is Located Close to a Property Line the Contractor Shall Brush Up to the Fence Line or Property Line, Whichever is Closer to the Roadside. Contractor is to Confirm These Locations With the Owner Prior to Commencing Work. Leaning Trees Encroaching Within the Road Right of Way Are to Be Cutoff at the Property Line. - Trees attached to fence line wire will be topped at fencepost height and wire will be left in place. - If roadside brush is not impeding drainage flow a portion of the property accesses may be marked to leave a 30-meter buffer in front of residences. Brushing Cleanup - All trees (including stumps) within the road right of way are to be removed and disposed of by the Contractor. - All debris is to be removed and disposed of from the ditch or chipped and placed on the backslope of the ditch; Chips must not exceed 12 inches (30cm) in length and during placement cannot exceed a depth of 2 inches (5cm). Chips/mulch are not to be left on the bottom of the ditch or the road grade slope as this can impede drainage. - All rocks within the road right of way are to be removed and disposed of by the Contractor. - All debris that lands on the road is to be removed prior to leaving site daily. - Contractor is solely responsible for maintaining the integrity of the roadway, culverts, and any surrounding infrastructure. The Contractor shall, in addition, be liable to the Owner for all expenses, losses, or damages incurred by the Owner as a result of such faulty materials and defective workmanship or as a result of the Contractor's failure to meet the guaranteed requirements as specified herein. Ditch Improvements - Contractor must contour ditches to ensure positive drainage. This Includes temporarily removing topsoil, grading as required, and the re-placement of existing topsoil. - Contractor is to notify the M.D. regarding any areas where attaining positive drainage does not seem reasonably practicable. Fencing - Existing fence that is damaged adjacent to the brushing locations is to be removed, disposed, and replaced with a four wire class B fence. These locations shall be confirmed on-site by the M.D. and will be paid as a provisional unit rate item. - Contractor shall be held liable to the Owner for any fence that was damaged as a result of 2024 construction.
