TIMELINE: Covanta Burnaby is seeking to engage a consultant to assess the current condition of the Metro Vancouver Waste-to-Energy Facility steam turbine driven generator field and stator and determine which is of the following is the most feasible, then determine bid pricing and timeline: 1. New Replacement Generator Replacement generator shall have same/comparable rating. In kind replacement with minimal modifications necessary. To include hardware necessary to be coupled to existing steam turbine gearbox shaft. All field modifications required should be clearly documented. This bid is for equipment only. Installation services will be bid separately but may be included optionally by the bidder. Preferred that shipping to site included. 2. Used / Refurbished Replacement Generator (gray market) Replacement generator shall have same/comparable rating. In kind replacement with minimal modifications necessary. Equipment shall be capable of being coupled to existing steam turbine load gearbox. All modifications required should be clearly documented. This bid is for equipment only. Installation services will be bid separately but may be included optionally by the bidder. Preferred that shipping to site included. 3. Generator Stator Repair - In situ Generator field is currently removed by others. Bid shall include: Disassembly of generator bars and core iron (to affected areas). Inspection for and cleaning to remove ALL debris caused by damage. Core iron restack and repair, as necessary. Rewind of generator stator and electrical testing to verify integrity. It should be noted the windings are treated by the Vacuum-Pressure Impregnation (VPI) process using a solventless epoxide resin. It is then baked to cure the resin-impregnation insulation and bracing materials. Installation of generator field and mechanical reassembly will be a separate but may be included optionally by the bidder. 4. Generator Stator Repair - Off site Removal of generator stator assembly from building. Load and transport to offsite repair shop. Shop work to: Disassembly of generator bars and core iron (to affected areas). Inspection for and cleaning to remove ALL debris caused by damage. Core iron restack and repair, as necessary. Generator Field Assessment & Repair Removal of generator field rotor from building. Load and transport to offsite repair shop. Perform disassembly as necessary to determine recommendations for repair. Repairs required will be determined after disassembly and inspection and a separate estimate following. Reassembly following recommended incremental repairs. Return transportation to site. Off load generator field rotor and return inside building.
