The primary purpose of the project is to reduce flood risks and the associated adverse impacts of riverine flooding in the University Boulevard neighborhood area. The approximately 80-acre area contains 51 insurable structures and lies northwest of the confluence between Walnut Creek and North Walnut Creek. The area has been subjective to repetitive flooding events over the last ten years and projections of future conditions suggest a continued increase in flood risks due to continued upstream development and rainfall changes. This project is part of the city's Fiscal year 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Program. As of October 17, 2023, further details regarding design and construction timelines have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
